VI. I'm sitting now...

...around the block at a Frankfurter beside the metro station entrance on Numancia on my way down to meet Dd after work. I've just finished reading a hard copy of the second draft of the first section of the Cairo book. It was a little bit nerve wracking to see the result of the additions and edits and to see if there was a sense of something coming together or not. I think there is and, hopefully, the speed will pick up. I've had to do quite a lot of fresh writing to set the whole thing up and also some gap filling writing which has required internet research to, well, fill the gaps! This morning I got lost in/on the Silk Road and the goods that passed along it and the time it took and the design and layout of the inns/khans along the way from China to Cairo...and all because I wanted to say what the 'khan' in Khan al Khalili signified. At least I got two decent paragraphs out of it!
