Entry Island

Entry Island finally came "home" when well over 150 people packed into the An Lanntair theatre in Stornoway tonight for the book's official paperback launch. I had prepared four short films using images from my research trips, both here in the Hebrides and in Québec in Canada. They were accompanied by wonderful live Celtic music provided by Anna Murray and Alex Tearse. The event was superbly chaired by Rhoda Macdonald who had flown up from London especially for the occasion. A huge debt of thanks is owed to Rhoda, Anna and Alex for turning it into the huge success that it was - I spent a solid hour afterwards signing books.

Earlier in the day I popped into the Visit Scotland tourist office to sign their prodigious stock of the books, and was welcomed by these two avid readers.

Today also saw the launch of the Outer Hebrides Tourism fold-out leaflet of the Peter May Literary Trail. The leaflets, along with specially printed bookmarks, will accompany me throughout my tour of the US which starts next week.

Off first thing tomorrow to Inverurie in preparation for a book festival event there on Saturday evening, presented by the BBC's Fiona Stalker. Looking forward to it!
