I am not a bee

The sky had become completely grey when I went home after my morning shift at work. Fortunately it was still dry when I got off the bus and I didn't have to look very far for a blip. There were quite a few flies resting and feeding on the shrubs along the edge of the water but this was the only one of its kind that I could see.

If I've identified my subject correctly, this should be a species of hoverfly which looks like a bee.
