Hampden Pond, Wendover

Desperate to get out today but C said that we should go tomorrow instead so reluctantly agreed.

Took a trip to Wendover to see the remains of the G U Canal (Wendover Arm) in Wharf Road & then from there to this place which I have passed so many times but never taken the time to visit. It's a lovely little pond located on the southern outskirts of the village. A designated conservation area with a muddy footpath skirting the outer edge & lots of seats. Quite a number of chaps fishing. Having taken a quick look I carried on to the church which altho on my list wasn't near the top as it was almost completely remodelled by the Victorians. Still a nice spot with some old monuments & stones inside & a nice original piscina. It has a very large cemetery. From there I drove along Hale Road & then home.

Reasonably quiet on the road despite it being County Show day.

Warmer day with sunny spells.

Oh yes & C is undertaking the Ice Bucket challenge later... ear plugs in !!

Interesting that the news featured another pond- lots of jewellery & weapons have been recovered from it...
