Good bye "Lusty"
Two of the things I love about my local railway station are the view and the situation. Portsmouth Harbour Station is built on a pier out into The Solent and, whatever time of year and whatever the weather, there is always something interesting to look at.
Today my train went from Platform 1 which is parallel to HMS Warrior, the first iron clad warship. I was intrigued to work out that the colours show W A R R I O R and D I S C O V E R (being the slogan of the nearby Historic Dockyard). But I didn't know what the four letter word below Warrior was.
More significantly today, between the centre and aft masts, you can see HMS Illustrious, "Lusty". Today the flagship of the Royal Navy is decommissioned.
