Montbretia

Becoming stir crazy trapped indoors by yesterdays rain I headed out to the forest this morning only to be caught in a torrential storm which turned the roads into waterfalls with water spouting out of overloaded drains.

Later in the afternoon the rain showers relented and walking through the woods I came across these flowers. I did not know what they were but after a request on Facebook the consensus seems to be that they are Montbretia or Crocosmia which may have migrated from a private garden.

I liked the way they seemed to be glowing against the dark background.
