The Home Stretch

I've lost count of how many times since the late 1970's it could just as easily have been me in this photo, seated on a draughty platform waiting for the train home, reading the London Evening Standard, my supper in a carrier bag at my feet.

Whatever happens about my planned early retirement next year, the one certainty is that there are thankfully many more commutes behind me than there are ahead.

PS: Judging by the responses to the question onedavid posed in his blip yesterday, none of us quite knows the whys and wherefores of hitting the blip Spotlight. However, hit it I have with my entry for yesterday. It surely has to be something to do with the response of readers - so thank you very much to everyone who viewed, gave me their heart or sprinkled stardust.

PPS: An old friend who knows pretty much everything there is to know about insects has confirmed that the Unidentified Flying Object in my blip for Sunday is an Argogorytes Mystaceus, or Digger Wasp. Well done to fellow blipper nickimags888 for also finding out what it was.
