Canvassing tonight after a day in Glasgow.

I was out in Sandbank and the canvas group met up in bright sunshine (that always helps) beside the "Cot House" to get our instructions and information. There were 9 of us in this team - I of course am the shadow taking the picture.

The first remarkable thing is that there was another, larger , group out canvassing for YES tonight in Dunoon , plus some leafleting going on. I can never remember a time when there was such a high level of activity.

The second remarkable thing is the composition of these teams. In this one there was an individual entirely new to the activity, and 5 others whom I had never canvassed with before. People are keen to spread the word and the work is being undertaken by people of all parties and none.

The third remarkable thing is the nature of the canvassing itself. Of course there are firm and inflexible YES and NO voters but the undecideds are keen to talk and those conversations are positive and detailed. They often result in movement towards a YES vote because of that.
