Life's a beach
What's the point of being self-employed if you can't be spontaneous once in a while? Today the weather forecast was good, so we headed to the beach. It always seems terribly extravagant to pay to lie on a beach, but we went to the beach bar in Saint Pierre La Mer and paid for a couple of sunloungers and a beach umbrella. Agenda for the day: have a cold drink. Go for a swim, or rather a flounder in the shallow water to cool off. Lie on the sunlounger to dry off and get hot again. Lunch: we went into the bar and shared a salad of one huge tomato sliced and served with mesclun and burrata. Divine, if just a tad expensive at 14 euros ... Then a sea bass each, grilled to perfection on the wood fire just outside the door. A bottle of Viognier to wash it all down, and ice cream to finish.
Next: siesta. More swimming. Reading. Repeat as desired. We finally left about six, and when we got home we spent more time lounging around the square with the neighbours, catching up on gossip. A lovely relaxing day. We should do it more often, but maybe take our own sunloungers and a picnic next time.
