... I'd been in hospital a week suffering from pre-eclampsia. I was nearly 14 stone, and not feeling (or looking) my best.

At this point inducing had begun, but nothing was happening. I was to be left to sleep and we'd start again tomorrow.

Three weeks early George would be born tomorrow. With a head shaped like a traffic cone and no blood sugar level, wired up to every machine going. He frightened everyone to death, his dad couldn't speak for two days. But, he was fine, and after a while he was a huge, greedy, happy, bouncing baby boy.

I look at him now, 6ft 2", with size 10.5 feet, and half an eyebrow missing (result of Leedsfest), and I can't quite believe that 17 years have passed so quick. A clever, funny, (downright annoying sometimes too), gorgeous, skinny rake of a kid, (who is still constantly hungry). Worth every bit of worry he caused and loved more than he'll ever know.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow George, (not that he'll read this!). You're quite often a pain in the bum - just like you were 17 years ago. But so worth it. Love ya x
