Optimistic trousers
Bought some new floral work trousers a few weeks ago (you know, during that SUMMER thing were having) and it has literally been freezing cold or raining ever since. Braved it today, pulled the tags off and wore them as the forecast was meant to be sunny. It was cold and grey most of the day. And I was shivering cold, obviously.
Of course the sun came out just as I changed at home into my jeans for the nursery pick up!
We're pretty rubbish in this house if we have to get anywhere early. We had painters arriving at 8.30am this morning and Audrey planned for an early nursery drop off which meant early alarms, showers the night before and Audrey being dressed and fed at top speed. You can't leave anything to chance with a little person involved. How parents with more than one child get anywhere (to a time scale) is incredible.
Audrey hated the break in routine. She likes things to happen in their normal order and she picked up on the urgency. She was also thrown with strangers arriving in the house in high vis jackets. "Audrey frightened" she kept saying as she hugged my legs but as we were leaving she hollered "Bye man!!!" to one of the painters up the stairs confidentially!!
She had a good day at nursery but seemed over-tired tonight (the worse kind of tired). Angus and I have cancelled a planned date night in favour of an M&S meal and a bottle of wine. Neither of us have the energy to leave the house! But we're going to sit at the table properly and talk rather than in front of the telly. Ooh posh.
