Shall we ignore, for a moment, the cost of printing this letter and cheque and then posting it to me? Let's also agree to forget the cost of me driving to a bank to pay it in............

Of course I recognise that having found that I was due another 4p when I closed this account Santander were duty bound to balance their books and clear their debt to me but this is still silly. Perhaps a letter saying "We owe you 4p - if you want it give us a call but if you'd prefer we'll put it in the charity box" would work better. There may be folk for whom that 4p makes a difference but for me a whole lot of 4ps all aggregated together and given to Save the Children would be better.
