When everything is new

There is something really nice when you're a birder about touching down in a new place. The common birds in the garden aren't common to you, each glimpse of a hummingbird, titmouse, and various finches leaves you grabbing your bins and soaking up the plummage differences. #

This is a nuthatch (white-breasted), similar to the UK bird, but bigger. H1 reckons it looks like a pied wagtail crosssed with a nuthatch.

It also helps that our host (old friends who now live amongst the colonials) have kept up the great British tradition of feedling the local wildlife - mainly the birds - and have a plethora of birds visiting the garden. including ospreys flying over...
