The Island of Stromboli.
Today we are heading towards Messina Sicily docking at 12 noon.
This is a shot of the Volcanic Island of Stromboli that we were alongside at 8am this morning.
The volcano on this island has been active for the last sixty years resulting in a Tsunami in 2002 affecting its 840 inhabitants.
From this north side of the island you can see the lava flows either side of the villages.
The south side of the island is higher and you can organise a hike up the mountain to a view point above the bubbling crater, relatively safe they say.
Around 10.30am we will be cruising the Messina Straits between the mainland and Sicily.
