Arkengarthdale to Swaledale

We went to Richmond for lunch today - good old fish and chips with mushy peas and bread and butter. It was also an opportunity for Ol to buy the ingredients for his turn at being chef tonight.

Then we drove up Arkengarthdale and Anne dropped the three of us off at the starting point of our planned walk - over the top and down into Swaldale. It was bitterly cold at first, but it didn't take long to get warm walking uphill.

On the way back into Swaldale we encountered this interesting little hamlet. It looked like only 4x4s and tractors could access it.

We managed to walk off the fish and chips and build an appetite for dinner - Ol did Coq au Vin.
