St Disen
Yesterday we went down to Devon to stay with friends and meet yet another Australian (!) who we had never met before but who knows all our other friends who live in Sydney! There was a barbeque party and we narrowly missed the rain, very lucky!
Here is the view from our bedroom window of St Disen of Bradninch. Bradninch was in existence before the 7th Century but the church is 15C, and it was originally named St Denis or St Dionysius. An 19th Century vicar confused the dedication by renaming it St Disen.
Got stuck in slow moving traffic on the M5 on our return, but not too bad, and slowed up again as we had to cross the A303 at Ilminster.
This afternoon we had our former neighbours for a cup of tea with their two little girls. The youngest has just been diagnosed as completely deaf and is going to Southampton for cochlea implants in ten days time. We wish them all the luck for this future traumatic time and hope little R will slowly begin to hear some form of sounds afterwards. She is so lively and bright.
