Red Balloon
Today's the day ........................ for some hot air
We were quite brave today - because we ventured out into the Lake District on a Bank Holiday Sunday.
We had our good friend Penny staying with us - and we wanted to show her around a bit. But everyone knows that if the Bank Holiday weekend coincides with anything like good weather, everyone is going to flock to the Lakes. Undaunted however, we ventured out - and I have to say, we've had a lovely time. Maybe, because we've lived here for so long - we know where to go to avoid the masses.
We were on our way back home and stopped to show her the view over Windermere from Gummers Howe. We watched this balloon take off from the opposite side near the shore. It rose up in the air until it was half way across the Lake - and then it started going down. It got so close to the water that you could see its red reflection. Then - just as we thought we were about to witness a terrible disaster - it started rising again.
It was maybe all completely planned and under control - but I do wonder if there was a lot of hot air about - and not just inside the red balloon ...................?
