In memoriam
This plaque was unveiled yesterday in Fraserburgh to commemorate the Victoria Cross won by Charles Jarvis who was born in the Broch in 1881. He was the first non-commissioned officer in the 1914-18 war to receive a VC, for valour at the battle of Mons. His father was a coastguard in the town, and the family later moved to Carnoustie. This plaque is one of a series being put in place across the country. As far as I am aware Lance-corporal Jarvis's plaque will be the only one placed in Fraserburgh.
