Water supply

Living out in the country we're completely off the grid for water in and out the house. Woke up this morning to no water... It happens every four or five years. So off up the hill behind the house with my neighbour to check the tanks in the stream bed. As expected its a nearby tree which had grown it's roots into the tank inlet pipe (the system itself is a rather wonderful piece of Edwardian engineering). Removed that, replaced and cleaned, and everything back to normal.

There's a bit of a yuck factor from people who see this for the first time, but in fact the water is wonderful. I find it difficult to drink water out the tap in Glasgow or elsewhere now because of all the artificial tastes. Works well in whiskey too!
