Jizo-bon

Jizo is a god who protects children. Around this time every year the Jizo-bon festival is held. Neighbourhood children visit their local shrine to pray to Jizo. Then they receive sweets. In some neighbourhoods they attend a small neighbourhood fireworks festival. This year, because it rained, fewer children turned out to get their sweets so parents like Kazuko and I, who helped with distributing the sweets, received a bag of sweets too. Thank you, Jizo.
