Perspective

I've started learning mindfulness, a technique which is supposed to allow you to view your life differently; from a more dispassionate perspective. I'm a natural sceptic, honed in that approach by science, so as yet I am being dispassionate and sceptical about mindfulness, but I'm also, simultaneously, intrigued.

Today might mark a big change in our lives because we put our house back on the market yesterday and someone offered to buy it today. There is a house we have our eyes on too... So...

I took this close-up of a hoverfly feeding today as I walked Tally and Sheamus in Blean Wood. Then I went and bought a new camera! For me, despite the above, this was the most exciting part of the day. I've bought a Fujifilm X-T1 - a compact systems camera - or if you prefer an EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens). For about a year I've been contemplating this because I carry my NIKON SLR everywhere and its weight is crippling me. I don't consider myself much of a consumer but before buying it I did read lots of reviews in camera magazines etc. So far I've brought it home, charged the battery, attached the neck-strap and the lens. Admired it... Tomorrow I hope to use it.

It might change my perspective.
