Altogether sunnier
This is my new favourite view. Like the existence of bees, it proves to me beyond question there is a God and s/he resides in Buckinghamshire! If you look very carefully on the hill you can see the top of Waddesdon manor among the trees. (I should add that the painterly effect was done in camera by a particular setting. Apparently three photos were taken in quick succession and maybe overlaid to get the intensity. I'll have to investigate further!)
I slept well. I spoke to A and arranged her visit and sent a few emails and then left to go to Towersey, near Thame to watch my sister in law and nieces dancing with their morris side.
It was a beautiful day. I wore a sun dress. The sat nav took me a completely cross country route, which I loved. I ended up being a bit late as first I struggled to make a tyre inflator work (I'm afraid it took a man to sort it out!) then I just HAD to stop for 20 minutes to take some shots of this view (well you photographers understand!). Finally, I got a call from cousin K who wanted to send her condolences. (It's funny. Everyone, quite naturally wants to know, what killed B. I have to say 'we don't know'. They ask again 'but what did the post mortem say?' 'It was inconclusive' I say, 'We don't know'. Which part of 'we don't know' do people not understand?)
Anyway, I was a bit late to the lovely village of Towersey, which is hosting a folk festival over the bank holiday weekend, and where I've never been before. Inside the very authentic and attractive pub, The Three Horseshoes, there was a great English tableau - a whole room of folkies playing, variously, fiddles, pipes, accordions, banjos etc. A truly lovely scene and sound.
Out front, the Owlswick morris side were dancing with 7 or 8 other guest sides all dressed fantastically and dancing with different styles, music, singing and energies. I enjoyed taking some experimental shots of them all but, in the end, preferred the beautiful, calm and restful pastoral scene to reflect my current mood.
H wasn't feeling well so I took her home. The sat nav didn't work and so I followed my nose and it was a nice drive. I visited my favourite farm shop on the way home as I have B's sister and her husband coming to stay for a few days on Monday. Rather excitingly a Vulcan passed low overhead on my way home, possibly having done a fly past at Silverstone. Such a cool cat.
I'm going to visit S this evening for a relaxed evening.
(I'm not feeling too bad today... though still have a bit of a sore throat and a painful tummy :( possibly IBS I reckon)
