Waiting for the Parade....
There was only one place to go today for an interesting picture and that was central Manchester where the Pride Parade was due to start at about 1. To be honest I nearly didn't bother, the rain was so heavy this morning. But half way through the morning the sun came out.
I drove into Chorlton to pick up something I'd ordered from the Arts Market at the Post Box Cafe. They happen once a month and from small beginnings are increasingly popular. I'd actually ordered, please forgive me, the things for Christmas presents. I didn't expect her to finish them so fast but she does get busy towards the Festive Season, so she did them straight away. So I guess I've started the Christmas shopping!
That done, I caught the tram into the city centre and made my way to the Pride Parade route. I ended up on Deansgate across from the John Ryland's Library and got a good position right on the kerb. It's an interesting place to stand as all the right wing, fundamental Christians like to stand there and tell the parade participants they are going to burn in hell for being gay. After a while they broadened the types of people who are going to burn in hell. I like a glass of wine or six so I'm going there as well. And, apparently, people who use iPads, mobile phones and computers are also going to burn in a fiery furnace so that will include anyone who reads this I guess.
It's going to be very crowded in hell but at least we will have lots of company. I wonder what sort of torment the demons have in store for over vigorous iPad users?
I remembered the panorama feature on my iPhone (there's really no hope for me is there?) camera. So I did this one of an empty of traffic Deansgate, but with the gathering crowds lining the route. The John Rylands Library and the Armani Store building came out really well. And, in spite of what the fundamental Christians said, the sun shone on the righteous....
