On sucking, not blowing

Not sure the EU's plan to limit sucking power of vacuum cleaners is such a clean sweep.

On the pro side, it will cut power consumption (but perhaps not by as much as hoped, if vacuuming does take longer due to lower sucking power) in the short-term and a bird in the hand today is worth more than one tomorrow. It can begin working earlier than other, more significant measures such as switching to wind power.

On the con side it helps turn folks against climate change mitigation measures to little additional benefit.

And it makes no difference to those early adopters who are already using green electricity (from wind, solar, etc, sources).

It's not how much power is consumed; it's how it's produced.

Still, if and when we do switch to predominantly green energy generation, we can relax the constraints and once again start sucking harder...
