The North Sea

Headed to the seaside town of Whitby for the day. First stopped at a fossil beach along the North Sea to look for fossils. Only a few minutes into this expedition, however, we were met with torrential freezing rain. We gave up our search after only finding a few fossils, freezing cold and drenched, hiked back up to the car, and struggled into dry clothes behind the car. In Whitby, we ate an extremely satisfying meal at the Magpie Café, then braved the still cold and light rain outside to see the Whitby Abbey. Stopped at a fishing store and bought yellow fisherman's rain jackets. Also had the fortune of catching a live theater performance of "Dracula" in the visitor center of the abbey, which had been relocated inside due to the rain.
