Missing
It was nice to relax and watch a sunset knowing I was blessed to have a first granddaughter after two grandsons. Elation knows no bounds.
However, a chance conversation this evening reminded me that my late wife will never get to hold her daughter's second born as she never got to hold her first. Will never get to nurture them as only a grandmother can....laugh with them and watch them grow....and my daughter doesn't have the support every new mother hopes for. Unfortunately I am a poor substitute for her. I "wet the baby's head" last night with friends and didn't feel the better for it due to the lack of sleep the previous night. My wife would have spent the day cleaning my daughter's house early today, lighting the fire to ensure a warm welcome for my daughter's return and generally spoiling her. I, on the other hand, decided to wait until tomorrow to visit......just saying.
