SPECKLED HORSE

we saw at Lauenförde in a nice green meadow. There was another speckled one and a white horse too. Do not feed the horses, the sign read, not even apples.
We had carrots with us, but obeyed the sign of course.
In the morning the weather was pleasant and Mischa and I decided to cycle to Meinbrexen. How many kilometres to it and back? We did not care, only hoped that we would stay dry. The clouds above us were unfathomable. 15 % chance for rain, although it looked different.
After lunch we went, one hour and a quarter we cycled, with wind against us, then wind in our back and sometimes without wind at all.
The paradise of Meinbrexen we enjoyed every minute of it, stayed exactly one hour near the lake, saw wonderful clouds, flowers and animals, big and small.
Exactly one hour and a quarter of an hour we cycled back home.
At first we thought, this place is so quiet and beautiful why not go there everyday? but when we got home we knew that this was out of the question.
Not only we were very tired, but we know of course that when the place would be familiar, we perhaps would forget how extraordinary it is in our experience.
Got used to it, would take it for granted, perhaps.
No better wait till we aspire again to pay a visit there again. Hopefully soon, of course.

My haiku:

Abandon preconceived
Ideas, but why? what would I
Gain by doing that?

And the proverb:

To know a goose from a gridiron.

1896 in J.C. Hutcheson, Crown & Anch.

I had no idea what a gridiron would be. The dictionary tells me: 1.a framework of metals bars fro grilling food on. 1. a field on which American football is played, with parallel lines marking the area of play.

Better have quiet evening, relax after the cycle tour and catch up tomorrow, when I have rested.
