Silver-washed Fritillary - I think.

Back to those pages and pages of text about Fritillaries in my butterfly book. That said I think this was an easy one because it is quite large and so reduces the choice. Shame that one of its wings was so tatty. They have suddenly appeared in force the last few days and are quite impressively large as Fritillaries go.
Today was one of those dreadful in limbo days with the car waiting to be moved to a garage and so not much energy could be raised to do anything else.
