The glass and the tale of the Wicker Man.
I bought this whisky glass yesterday in Kirkcudbright it is engraved with the image of the Tolbooth a historic landmark in the town, which had been used for many things including a public stocks for criminals, where you could pelt a friend for free and fun.
The location was used however in the 1973 film The Wicker Man as well as other areas in the town, the film now has enjoyed cult status and a pop festival is held in Galloway every year in it's honour where they burn a giant "wicker man" at it's end.The film when released was panned by the critics and nearly was not released by the film distributor, who considered it awful and re-edited the original.Rod Stewart also tried to buy all the copies as it featured his then girlfriend Brit Eckland who appeared nude in the film.
The film has been recently re-made and the result is truly hideous, although that was said in the past!!!!!!.
