Not what you think

So, almost every body of water here has these bubblegum colored, caterpillar shaped blobs just a few inches from the surface of the water, on a wall or on cattails- whatever they can climb up
Apparently, they are snail eggs from the apple snail. Will need to do some research on that - but the wailing birds love them-
