Today we were waiting about 4 hours at the Mara River to watch a crossing of the gnus ..... at the end we were lucky: we watched 1 and ½ ...... the half means they were coming down from the plain to the riverbank ..... hesitated ....... and then went up again ..... idiots as they are.......... then, a few meters further, one zebra was daring enough to follow the shouts of its friends who were already at the other riverside - and then all the other gnus decided to take the plunge into the river and swim to the other side......

What you see are the remnants of a previous crossing - the vultures are happy that not every gnu was lucky enough to succeed..........
