Crop Sprayer

This morning I could hear machinery in the field behind our house - I thought it was a harvester. We can't see directly into the field because of the high hedgerow.

Grabbed the camera and walked around the corner to find this machine spraying.

The crop is rapeseed - and I gather that they often spray it with glyphosate (as used in domestic weedkillers) prior to harvest. It causes the plant to die and dry up making the harvest easier! Not sure how much residue gets left in the seed and subsequent oil!

Will have to listen out for the combine in the next few days.
