Tui

As I've said before, at certain times of the year I'm totally predictable.

I went out this afternoon to take photos of waxeyes in the blossom tree planning to get them against the bright blue sky - to make up for the fact that I blipped one in mono on Monday. And I did take a few photos of them but then this big bad tui came along and scared them all off.

So I had to take his photo. He was so close that I actually had to back off in order to get even this much of him in the frame. Because of the seriously blue sky, he has come out a little dark. But I can live with that...

Just after taking this photo I backed up a little too far and tripped over a bench seat. Of course I protected the lens as I went down, so the camera gear is fine but I'm betting I'll have a bruise or two.
