The Unwanted Organ
Owen takes piano lessons at a place called Keys 4/4 Kids. They are a nonprofit organization that accepts, restores, and sells donated pianos the proceeds from which go to support music and arts programs for local youth. Our original piano found it's way there and then we found our way there.
At the front of the store is an organ. The organ is for display only and does not play. It is a conversation piece, as Steve, our piano teacher, puts it. And so I asked Steve about organs and found out that many people bring them in, but they end up junking them because nobody wants to buy an organ. They're neat to look at and fun to play, but nobody wants one for their home.
And so I took a photo of the unwanted organ that no longer plays. It just sits in a store window, an object to be discussed. You can visit it at Keys 4/4 Kids at Grand & Hamline in Saint Paul if you are so inclined.
