Stornoway Sunday

Although matters have relaxed greatly over the past 15 years, Sunday in Stornoway is still quite a quiet affair. The swings in the playpark can be used, the ferry now sails to the mainland in the afternoon. However, this is still the scene on North Beach Street, one of the town's main thoroughfares at 3pm. Come back in 24 hours, and a totally different picture presents, with cars, buses, vans and pedestrians vying for every available inch of space. Nonetheless, I have always enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Lewis Sunday, and long may it continue.
