Decaying splendour

Not too far from where I live there are some woods on Shooters Hill called Oxleas Woods and in the grounds not too far from an old monument, Severndroog Castle, there are what was left of some formal gardens.

This fountain is now a dumping ground for beer tins, bottles and cigarette butts but back in the day it was built it must have looked quite something with the head looking out on gardens that probably sloped down the hill with magnificent views of Kent.
