Emergency!

Just realised I haven't taken a photo today, so it seems appropriate to post one of something that has wasted a lot of time today. MY MacBook Pro is now slower to start up and shut down than any other Windows or Mac machine.I took it to the gurus in Birmingham, but they could not find anything wrong, and their suggested special restore from Time Machine took a long time, but achieved no improvement. It's less than 3.5 years old, and I would expect at least 5 years from any computer - one of my servers actually dates from the last century. On top of this, there is some internet comment that suggests MBPs of this age are likely to suffer major graphics failure, and Apple are not sympathetic.

So if I need to replace it, another Apple is not looking particularly attractive, Windows is no better, and Linux is really not a contender (I use Linux machines, but for any serious application use the available software is far short of what you get with Apple, Adobe and Microsoft).
