Baby Cardinal

He's not really a baby anymore, but he is still sometimes accompanied by one of his parents. He's also quite aggressive - in this picture the action is all about seeing off another bird.

We've had much better luck with cardinals this year - last summer our only visitor was quite bald and looked like a little vulture. It's nice to know that we've got at least one grown chick.

My new camera showed up today. It's a Canon SX50, which I hope will help with bird photography and be digital binoculars as well. It's wonderfully light, and it should be a great travel cam too.
