Today's dilemma...
This will probably be the last photo you see of Coco...
This morning I received a frantic phone call from my friend who was distraught and at her wit's end with Coco. Despite all my friend's best efforts, Coco is not responding to training, and for the last week has taken to attacking her owner, biting her and ripping her clothes (all only in play, but very boisterous play). On one occasion my friend had to go to A&E as the bite was quite deep. So after only having her for 3 weeks, and with a very heavy heart, J has decided that Coco will have to be returned to the breeder, for both her sake and Coco's.
It is such a shame as for 90% of the time, Coco is a very sweet and gentle puppy, but for the remaining 10% she is very unpredictable. I offered to accompany my friend and Coco for a walk as my friend hadn't felt up to taking her out on her own, and on the whole she was very well behaved. At one point she did start to bite, but she did respond to a firm tone of voice; my friend says it's because I'm a school teacher, but I think it was more because I had a bag full of treats!
So my dilemma: during my visit, Coco bit and ripped my jeans (my best ones!) and has put a large unrepairable hole in them. J was very apologetic and offered straight away to pay for a new pair. Given that J is devastated at the thought of having to give up on Coco, do I accept her offer? If I was working then I wouldn't dream of accepting the money....
