plant bug

A few days ago while I was mooching around Southwater woods I noticed a few (4) of these beautiful plant bugs Corizus hyoscyami.
I think to find anything such a bright colour in the UK is somewhat unusual, (as most plant bugs come in shades of brown and black) So finding this little beauty sitting in a dying thistle was a real bonus, the sort I never tire of receiving!
Corizus hyoscyami, although historically confined to Southern british coasts has now found it;s way much further inland, and can be found as far north as Yorkshire.
It overwinters as an adult, with the new generation appearing in August and September. The adults are 9mm in length, and like all Rhopalidae (the family from which it comes) are hairy with veins in the apical wing membrane
