GREAT YORKSHIRE BREWERY

As a present to a great friend who is 70 we treated him to . . . a tour of the Great Yorkshire Brewery at Cropton, near Pickering, North Yorkshire.

This is a grand spot and we enjoyed the proceeds after a tour lasting one hour. A grand selection of cask, keg and bottled beers. Check out the website here.

I sampled the Yorkshire Red Lager – grand – and await the arrival of Yorkshire Blackout in a few weeks. This is a Yorkshire version of Guinness. They even have cricket bats on their logo. By Eck ! Grand !

The image shows the fermentation tanks. Everything is carefully monitored in this micro-brewery and everything belongs to Yorkshire – apart from the hops that come from Kent. Their award winning beer is Top Of The Hops 2012 – but a new brew . . . Top Of The Hops 2014 . . . is due in 6-8 weeks.
The Brewery is expanding to treble production and they have broken into the market in Japan – where the beer sells for £16 a pint !
Cheers !
