The railway bridge ........

This is the railway bridge in our valley..

It is the main line to Lyttleton , the trains bringing coal and forestry logs over to the Port where they are loaded up on the big ships. Quite a busy track and I love hearing the sound of the trains coming thru the valley.

After the Eq's the bridge was rebuilt as it was weakened and damaged. It used to be a smaller tunnel like road way underneath...built with 100yr old bricks. Now it is more modern in looks which isn't so charming but it feels alot safer!

At the moment they are doing more roadworks there, what for I do not know but in typical Chch style things get dug up at least twice these days!
