I wonder what's happened here?

A couple of years ago JustSally gave me a cutting from a rather lovely geranium. I tended it, kept it going through 2 winters and this year it has flowered profusely in the pot I blipped yesterday. She asked if I still had the cutting to which I answered 'Of course I have!' Today I'm blipping it for two reasons, firstly it's gorgeous and secondly it's quite different to the one she gave me! How do I explain that??
