Rolo gets stuck in the water

one black labrador/one muzzel/one pond (big)/one ball. Owner forgets to take muzzel off but throws ball into pond....off goes black lab to retrieve ball from pond, gets to the ball but cant get to it...40 minutes of bunting the ball around the pond desperately trying to bite it...owner getting understandably anxious as for quite a bit of time, the dog is out of its depth. I am thinking I might have to strip to my essentials and do the honorable thing but fortunately for all concerned the wind starts to blow across the pond towards us and hey presto we can get hold of Rolo...40 minutes where the dog was oblivious to absolutely everything else in the world.
