A gift

Kingmoor Nature Reserve on the edge of Carlisle city centre is a large expanse of woodland with paths and tracks and bridges and the occasional pond or carved seat. The original moorland was gifted to the citizens of Carlisle by King Edward in 1352 (hence the name). In 1913 it was designated a Nature Reserve, making it one of the oldest in the country.

Funny how you can live in a place for many, many years, know of something, but never quite get round to finding it. We found this today – on a showery, blustery day. Why have we never been before – no idea!! After all it’s been there for over 600 years!
