Chasing the sunrise
I was driving to work this morning and noticed just a tiny bit of pink in the sky. I started to debate...Mexican mocha or photograph the sunrise.
Well I decided that by the time I'd even get near the sunrise, its glamour would be gone. So I headed toward the coffee shop. After getting my mocha, I started driving East toward work and noticed immediately that the sunrise was much grander than I gave it credit.
As I started speeding down the road doing 40 in a 25, I just knew I would miss it. The problem with sunrises is that I cannot seem to find a place in town where I can really catch a great shot. So as I'm pressing along at top speed, I think of a spot.
My spot is behind the local KFC. I think all is well until I get my camera steady and notice my nemesis....the telephone wire! Arrgh. No time to find a new spot so I suffer.
As I'm photographing, I am also waiting for the sky to change. I suddenly notice this strange little animal hut made of wood off to the right in the bushes. On the floor of the little house is a tray with leftover KFC on it. Then I start looking around a bit more and realize that there are maybe 8 to 10 of these little animal huts casually placed all over the hill behind KFC.
I don't know if they are feeding the cats or racoons. It just seems incredibly strange that a national food chain has a random animal farm on their premises.
So if you're ever in Coos Bay with a hankering for chicken, you might want to pass up KFC because you don't know what they might be frying.
