The good old days*

... when you didn't need to worry about f-stops, apertures, speed or ISO numbers. The days when all you needed to know was are you CLOSE UP or far away and at the flick of a switch the problem was solved. No chance of unwittingly nudging the wrong button.

Of course expectations were a lot different in those days, it was a triumph if you got an image that was acceptable after shoving the film under your armpit for 30 seconds. No need to worry about the quality as it would be stuck in a photo album, or more likely a carrier bag, and never see the light of day again. Unlike these days where we are awash with images at the flick of a virtual wifi button and offer them to the world to have a look at before they disappear into a virtual carrier bag up in the clouds.

For those of you interested in cameras according to Wikipedia "the invention of modern instant cameras is generally credited to American scientist Edwin Land, who unveiled the first commercial instant camera, the Land Camera, in 1948, a year after unveiling instant film in New York City. The earliest instant camera, which consisted of a camera and portable darkroom in a single compartment, was invented in 1923 by Samuel Shlafrock." You probably knew that already.

*They weren't that good, I just couldn't be bothered to go out looking for something to photograph. This was pretty instantaneous.
