Penny lick, a piece of family history

Penny licks were used in the late 1800s by ice-cream sellers, they have a small hollow in the top which a small amount of ice-cream was placed, this would be bought for a penny and licked then the glass would be rinsed out and used again. This inevitably caused disease so they were banned in the early 1900s and replaced with cones.
This penny lick is part of my family history, it belonged to my Grandma and my Great Grandfather before that.
My Great Grandad sold ice-cream in the late 1800s from a horse and cart and my Grandma took over the business as a young woman around 1920.
She sold it from an old small caravan in the local market and continued to sell ice-cream from that caravan until she was 81 years old in the 1990s.
She was known and loved by everyone.
Everyone knew Grace the old lady who seemed to have been in the market forever selling from the old caravan with a flat tyre. My Grandad made the ice-cream from the old family recipe.
