The road to Bella Coola

I spotted this abandoned, worn out, child sized wheel chair on the shoulder on the way into town. Bella Coola is a small fishing town about 900 kilometres north west of Kelowna, B.C.
It made me wonder: had we missed a miracle ? did the occupant hitch a ride? or was it just thrown away?
