The Minolta scanner does an excellent job of copying 35mm slides and negatives bit is s-l-o-w! I've been scanning slides for years now but, as I still have thousands to do, I decided to have a go with an alternative method. The arrangement of light box, tripod, camera with macro lens etc. is a bit fiddly to get set up properly but when that's done, the copying process is way faster and the quality of the results is very good. The dedicated scanner has the ability to 'remove' dust and blemishes from scans but I tend not to use that is it makes the whole process take even longer. So, using the new setup + Adobe Lightroom for processing, I copied and exported over 400 slides in somewhere around 6 hours of work. At that rate, I now have a fighting chance of getting the job finished....one day.
